Happenings

Convicted felon and Trump pardoned pal Roger Stone appeared to use a racist slur in a telephone interview with Black radio host Morris O’Kelly on Saturday night. At one point O’Kelly pressed Stone about the treatment he received after his three year prison sentence was commuted by the White House resident. During some occasional technical problems Stone was heard saying, “I don’t really feel like arguing with this Negro”. Stone’s really the smooth one, isn’t he?

Quote worth noting:  Joe Biden: “He (Trump) has no idea what to do (about the pandemic). The only thing he has in mind is how does he win re-election. It doesn’t matter how many people get COVID.”.

Alex Trebek has named his choice of successor as “Jeopardy” host. As we know, he suffers from pancreatic cancer. Hopefully his retirement is not in the near future although he does name a favorite friend to replace him, 98 year old wonder, the marvelous Betty White. They have been pals for years.

Niece Mary Trump commenting on the Colbert Show in reference to Uncle Don, “We’re talking about a man who I do not believe could function in the real world on his own “He’s had all of his needs taken care of, he’s never been held accountable, he’s been protected from his failures”,

Another sign of the turbulent, misguided and unfortunate times in which we live  Dr. Anthony Fauci , the nation’s top infectious disease expert during the coronavirus pandemic has just revealed that he’s received  “serious threats” to himself, his wife and daughters because of his public role as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and adviser to the White House coronavirus task force.

I must admit to a certain lack of enthusiasm for the beginning to the Major League baseball season. Yes, better than nothing, the 60 game schedule with no fans in the parks and the play by play announcers located miles from the games does rather dampen the usual excitement us baseball fans feel when the first cry of “play ball” is heard.

It seems as though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have filed a lawsuit against paparazzi who have allegedly used drones to photograph their 14-month-old son Archie at home in Los Angeles. The complaint alleges Archie was photographed in the backyard of a gated community which is the family’s Beverly Hills home. We all recall it was the paparazzi who was largely responsible for the death of Harry’s mother Princess Diana.

News?

The current administration continues to put distance between itself and the nation’s leading coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. The red tied one and his back to school campaign is an obvious re-election ploy as the doctor displays more caution in the matter. Interesting, a recent poll shows 67% of American voters trust Dr. Fauci for accurate virus info while only 26% tip their MAGA hats to Trump.

The Washington Post’s focus on the Oval Officer’s total of misleading statements reveals that he reached the 20,000 mark last week. The Post’s tally has continued to grow as “The Rajah of Rudeness” increasing total amounts to 20.066 thus far during his stay in the White House

During the recent interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos niece Mary Trump stated that her uncle “Is utterly incapable of leading this country and it’s dangerous to allow him to do so, based on what I’ve seen my entire adult life.” Asked ““If you were in the Oval Office today, what would you say to him?” “Resign,” she answered.

The effort continues to discredit Dr. Anthony Fauci leading expert on COVID 19 with Trump hack Peter Navarro saying “Anthony Fauci has been wrong about everything I have ever interacted with him on”.

Meantime, attorney Dean Obeidaliah believes that the Duke of Derision could be charged with manslaughter because of his handling of the corona virus, failing to warn Americans about the threats of the disease and lying about them.

Hard to imagine there are those who still refuse to wear masks and declare that the coronavirus is “a hoax”.

We have to wonder why the Oval Officer has shown little or no leadership in the fight against this horrible pandemic. Perhaps because of his constant and lifelong obsession with himself.. As the coronavirus continues to surge he brags about bringing back the incandescent light bulb.  The negative current atmosphere in our nation relates to his demeanor. This Rajah of Rudeness has often expressed his disapproval of both President H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton. In another bush league move, this Duke of Disrespect has had the portraits of both that formerly occupied the spaces reserved for recent Presidents (President Obama’s is yet to be completed) removed and placed in an obscure White House location. Disrespectful, thoughtless and downright class less, Trump continues to prove that he’s a stain on the office he occupies

No Kidding 2

Just noted actor Johnny Depp seems to continue to warp into weirdness.  It’s said he recently slapped his girlfriend and wrecked a trailer.  Apparently, his penchant for booze and drugs has undone the once respected film star.

More proof the years pass quickly. Ringo Starr just turned 80.

Looks as though Washington’s NFL team has arrived at a new moniker.  Seems “Washington Red Skins” will be replaced by “Washington Warriors”, a decided improvement.

Thomas Lane, one of the four Minneapolis officers charged in George Floyd’s death has requested to have his case dismissed owing to lack of “probable cause”. Any of the four responsible for contributing to Floyd’s demise should be maximally punished for whatever part they played in that horrific circumstance.

Back in April the administration issued “Guidelines for Opening Up America Again” which indicated businesses.  etc should resume in phases depending on progress containing the virus. Now, here in July with the November election drawing closer the White House resident insists that the virus is under control which it certainly isn’t, and claims that schools should reopen. Yep, guys and gals.....the health of the nation isn’t important.....getting re-elected is the first priority. What else is new!

The most expected event of the week: Trump pardoning his pal Stone. Called “The most corrupt act in perhaps all of recent history” and him “a lawless president who treats American justice like his personal plaything “.Interesting to note that Nixon never pardoned any of his Watergate buddies.

Trump quote of the week as the nation’s virus surged in many areas, “They’re are going to be fine”.  There now, don’t you feel better? By the way, it’s apparent that the Oval Officer’s clamor to reopen the nation’s schools is his hope that such will aid in his re-election.

Ah, So!

There are those who rise to the occasion during this pandemic....then, there are others who sink to a subterranean level of stupidity such as a disgraceful group of Alabama college students who have been tossing coronavirus parties, even betting who would get the virus first. Moms and Dads of these bozos need to stop dolling out college education bucks for these morons and toss them into the real world.

The Trump grip on reality continues to loosen with a baseless tweet in which he accused the sole black NASCAR driver of the following: “Has Bubba Wallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX?” Careful inspection had previously revealed that the so called noose had been there since last October, long before Bubba Wallace used that space. There was no hoax involved.

Seems 81 year old lawyer Alan Dershowitz has been missing from one of his favorite “hang outs”, a Martha’s Vineyard nude beach.  Let's attempt to avoid any mental pictures.

“I will say one last thing for him. I knew he would be disappointed not to have lived to see Trump’s eviction from the White House, to make America safe again for honor and truth”-              Annie Reiner, daughter of the great Carl Reiner.

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, former friend and confidante of Melania Trump,  has penned yet another  “tell all”  Trump volume,  Melania and Me, for release on Sept. 1st,  reputed to trash the so called First Lady. This growing collection of family revelations will shortly require libraries to install exclusive Trump devoted sections.

White House Secretary and perpetuator of lies coming from the Oval Office has commented on the Mary Trump book labeling it  “A book of falsehoods” even though she hasn’t read it.

I find it odd that the ProJo, Providence Journal, should raise its rates 70% in times such as these. Many are jobless without incomes which appears not to matter to the no longer local owners of this depleted daily devoting more space to car ads than news.

So!

Donald Trump refers to himself as “The Wartime President” while we recall he avoided military service by claiming “bone spurs”. Now he’s labeled himself as “the Lone Warrior”. Among the differences between the Oval Officer and the Lone Ranger is that the Ranger wore a mask.

Certainly the uptick in Covid 19 in many parts of the nation is due to human stupidity. The too early opening of bars, restaurants, beaches, etc.  is mainly responsible along with those who are too anxious to resume their here to fore “usual lives”. The initial call for re-openings came from the White House followed by state leaders who joined the parade of door openers perpetuating a new explosion of the virus.

Seems that book written by a Donald niece can be released after having been previously put on hold. The family attempted to block publication of Mary Trump’s “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man”. Assured of much attention and big sales this “tell all” will be on store bookshelves within the next couple of weeks.

Didja’ note that the red tied one unloaded a July 4th rant at Mt. Rushmore to a mostly mask less, lack of social distancing crowd? Seems he made references to the “cancel culture” and “far left fascism”. It’s a wonder that the carved Presidential images there weren’t seen with frowns.

Thus far the following quotes take the prize as dumbest of the week: Trump’s “The coronavrirus will disappear” and from White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany “Donald Trump is the most informed person”.

We’ve lost a great one with the passing of Hugh Downs at 99. Remembered for his work on the “Today”, “Tonight” ,”Concentration” and “20/20” shows he once held the record for most hours in front of a tv camera. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and interviewing him some years ago. If one word could sum up Hugh Downs it would be “class”.
